Land broker and secretary of the Permanent Building Society Mr. H. D. Gell bought both houses in 1879. He lived in one house and leased the other to Dr. Seabrook. Mr. Gell was Mayor of Glenelg from 1884 to 1886. He was a magistrate and held many public positions.
